spring garden reception

We are super excited to share the details of our latest summer wedding for Andrea and Joe! Though we didn’t design and plan their entire event, we created some of our favorite elements yet.

Andrea and Joe chose several services from our IndividualElements to develop their garden themed wedding. We hand crafted the centerpieces, favors, escort cards, and bridal flowers while working with Andrea from the early stages of her planning to ensure a cohesive design.

For this New York wedding, Andrea envisioned both a classic and natural look. After visiting the Renaissance Westchester in White Plains, we knew it was the perfect backdrop to host this wedding. Our challenge was to create centerpieces that would enhance the look of the room yet not take away from its already fitting landscape of arching windows and beautiful stone work.

Working from her palate of lavender and white, we chose faded green hydrangeas with white roses for her bridesmaids’ bouquets. Her bouquet matched but also adorned with white cala lilies to match the groomsmen boutineers.

The cocktail hour took place on a private stone patio surrounded by sculpted hedges. A trickling fountain in the background created the perfect secluded garden atmosphere. We wanted the centerpieces to simply blend in to this already organic aura, so we chose white hydrangeas in clear glass vases with sliced lemons and limes to add a bit of natural color.

t was very important to our bride to have favors that guests would appreciate and keep at home. Terracotta pots with custom escort tags fastened in twine was a wonderful way to personalize her favors. We chose a vibrant and untraditional wedding flower called celosia. The celosia flowers added a bold burst of color to the cocktail hour, allowing guests to pick them up and disperse the visual in and throughout the dining room.

The dining room invited the outdoor charm inside with stone walls, large windows, and vaulted ceilings that gave the feeling of a private piazza. The rustic centerpieces were vintage birdcages with fantastically overgrown vines, natural faded hydrangeas, engufled in moss. Each individually crafted birdcage was different than the next, as if left outside for nature to envelop with its colors. We then molded table numbers with moss and perched them above the cages. We finished off the table with cream linen napkins tied with twine and a sprig of baby's breath.

To add a personal and unique element to Andrea & Joe's sweetheart table, two love birds were nestled inside a moss crafted heart.

Thanks and Congratulations to Andrea and Joe!

Navy Elopement

We have another quick treat for you all this week. Our awesome bride Laura (who we planned her super fun surprise bachelorette party) sent us over a few photos from her wedding ceremony.

For those of you who didn't catch the Surprise Bachelorette Party post, Laura was heading overseas to marry her Navy Sailor fiancé in an intimate beach ceremony. Taffeta & Tattoos will be planning their reception when they return to the States. From the planning of the bachelorette party to these amazing photos, they have included us in their experience.

Their ceremony was completely private and held on a secluded beach. I can't tell you how much we love these photos, they truly stripped down the wedding ceremony to the most important elements: each other. Don't they just look so happy?

Thanks so much Laura for sending us these snapshots. We can't wait to really get working on your reception in the States!

We Sing For Make A Wish

I know that we say this every time we work with We Sing For The World, but the benefit that we just completed was so amazing.  After the awesome success of We Sing For Team Donovan, the Hudson Valley Make A Wish chapter contacted We Sing For The World in hopes of working together.

After the calls were made, the raffle baskets were assembled, the reversals were booked - a night full of Broadway favorites was planned with an awesome cast of talented vocalists and musicians, Broadway veterans and fresh young talent.

From the opening number, When You Wish Upon a Star through the finale the audience was enraptured. Coordinating these events rarely feels like work, but gives you that warm feeling somewhere deep inside.
As always, we would love to thank the Westchester Performing Arts Center and their amazing staff, Daniele Hager and the We Sing For The World Foundation, and the generous support of the Westchester community, who without, these events couldn't success stories.

Shabby Chic Cupcake Engagement Party

8/20/2013

Okay, so this engagement party I am SUPER excited to write about. Not only was it stunning with all its raw vintage décor, it was my awesome friend and Taffeta & Tattoos partner's engagement party.

Clarissa and Alexa were set up by a mutual friend of theirs on a blind date and I can still remember Clarissa sitting on my couch looking at Alexa's website and thinking that she was out of her league. Well, she was obviously wrong, the date went awesome and here we are a few years down the line planning their wedding.

The event was hosted by our friends at The Cupcake Cafe in Manhattan. Not only are their cakes and cupcakes to die for, but the cafe's décor was exactly the shabby chic that we wanted for this event. Exposed brick, thick barn wood tables, perfectly mismatched chairs, and an antique stone lion's head. A killer rustic bar was setup and accented the room with fresh hydrangeas, branches, and candles - but really the bones of the space were the inspiration.

The bite sized lemon poppy cupcakes (a preview of their wedding cake) went as fast as they were put out as guests lingered through the night. The last person left around 3am...now that is the sign of an excellent party.

Congrats you two!

We Sing for Boston

Yet another We Sing For The World event went off without a hitch. The theme of this particular concert was opera. With musical numbers from several operas woven together to create their own narrative. Though this feat sounds monumental, the performers delivered and the audience responded.

One of the super cool things about being behind the scenes is that we get to watch the performers and the audience interact. Many parts of this concert featured the performers singing from the audience, which added a level of intimacy that the audience really responded to.

As for Taffeta & Tattoos, our role in this production was of the organizational production nature. So we really don't have many fun insights to show you. Unless you really like lists, schedules, and contact sheets, well then, we have the goods.

Anyway, please look at a few photos featured below and go to our site to see more photos from the event or to get in contact.
